Warner Bros nous indique ainsi qu'il faudra s'attendre à parcourir près de neuf heures de suppléments inédits, tandis que Peter Jackson explique que les fans pourront découvrir pour la première fois certaines scènes telles qu'elles ont été originellement tournées. Toujours pas de détails précis en revanche concernant la version longue proprement dite, justement, si ce n'est qu'elle sera plus longue de 13 minutes exactement.
Aux États-Unis, la chose sera disponible le 22 octobre en téléchargement et le 5 novembre prochain en version disque (5 DVD ou Blu ray). On attend une date définitive pour la France.
