Les nominations viennent tout juste de tomber.
Un peu plus de 2000 votants (seulement, serait-on tenté de dire pour un prix d'une si grande ampleur doté d'un tel système de nominations...) ont donc établi la liste ci-dessous. Les vainqueurs seront dévoilés en août prochain, lors de la WorldCon 2015 qui se tient cette année à Spokane, dans l'état de Washington.
Il est à noter que les nominations des Hugos par votes sont souvent l'objet de campagnes, le plus souvent dans l'ombre. Cette année, tout comme l'an passé, Brad R. Torgersen et Larry Correia ont au contraire décidé d'agir à visages découverts, si l'on peut dire, en mettant ouvertement en avant leur campagne baptisée Sad Puppies, dans le but affiché de réconcilier les Hugos avec ce que les lecteurs lisent vraiment, Torgersen de son côté accusant une bonne partie des votants habituels de se montrer snobs et élitistes, avec des goûts prétendument fort éloignés de ceux de la majorité (silencieuse ?) du lectorat... Le même se réjouissant d'avance des réactions soulevées par cette sélection, cf le paragraphe ci-dessous.
D'ores et déjà, il semble que la liste de cette année attise la polémique sur Twitter (le hashtag #hugoawards est actuellement 3eme des tendances Monde, rien que ça), où beaucoup de votants semblent décider à boycotter toutes les catégories sauf celle du meilleur roman (Ce "cher" Vox Day est encore de la partie, lui). Reste à savoir quel système de nominations reposant sur des votes publics, ouverts vraiment à tous ou pas forcément d'ailleurs, comme dans le cas présent, pourrait bien satisfaire tout le monde (On se souviendra de Brandon Sanderson intervenant publiquement pour demander ainsi aux fans de La Roue du Temps de ne pas "truquer" les votes l'an passé du fait de leur nombre)...
